Terry Eaton is a Professional brand photographer working with SMEs through his business Eaton Photography. For his photos, Terry enjoys going beyond traditional headshots, using local natural environments and nature to complement the brands he works with. As well as working with businesses, Terry also works with weddings to capture the joy and excitement of life’s special moments.
Terry came along to a March Innovation in the Wild session at Gwithian where surfing was the main activity, supported by Global Boarders. Attending to meet other business professionals, Terry found that the event was the perfect place to bond with other attendees while enjoying a fantastic activity.
“Getting teams out on the beach changes people and bonds teams better”
Networking in the outdoors was particularly inspiring for Terry from Eaton Photography and led to more meaningful discussions than what would be had in a more sterile environment, such as on sustainability:
“The focus on sustainability when being in nature is a lot more powerful. Seeing Mother Nature from the water and all the scenery and beautiful land… it lends itself a lot better than in traditional environments”
As someone who enjoys surfing and nature, this style of event was well suited to Terry, however in addition to networking it also offered some relief from work-related stress.
“Activity based networking really works, taking you out of a normal environment into nature has a calming effect where you aren’t worried about work”
In addition to the opportunity to unwind and come back to work with a fresh and positive attitude, Terry made some meaningful connections at the event. He plans to stay in touch with all the attendees he met and they have all connected on LinkedIn. Furthermore, he has made plans for future collaborations on the topic of wellbeing as a result of networking at the event.
